I’ll be monitoring the humidity; I’ve heard it’s not too accurate, although the thermostat is. with this model.
I plugged some of the holes in the underside near the water Reservoir with hot glue. It still has holes on the top for regulation and I have sponges ready. Unfortunately I bought a digital thermometer instead of a thermometer/Barometer to place inside, so I’ll be going back to the store in a little while.

I’ll be on vacation but my dad will be house/duck sitting. He will be taking the daily eggs(dated) and adding them to the incubator for the next five days.

Hopefully there is a little Blackula jr inside.

Hope you get some babies!

Me too. But I’m also not trying to get my hopes up just in case. So in order to prevent major disappointment I decided the best thing to do is to pick out the two kinds of runner ducks I could be ordering from Metzer, and have it ready to go. This way if I see no signs of life in the eggs in two weeks( My dad will still be collecting and adding them for the next five days whilst I’m on vacation, just in case the future eggs are still furtile), then Metzer will get an order.

Kind of curious about why you'd plug the ventalation holes on the bottom of the incubator. I think they are supposed to be there. I forgot mine were there and I made quite a mess carrying the incubator outside to clean it.

I only plugged two holes rear the reservoir to make filling easier and to help with humidity I was hoping.

One of the holes was in the center of the bottom which is surrounded by the water reservoir, so that one got plugged first. This way I can pour right into the center and it will overflow into the reservoir. Because the reservoirs aren’t a different color, it seems like it would makes it hard to estimate where to poor, between the eggs in their turners, and the grate below. I mean seriously, how is anyone supposed to see the water holders through all the other junk? I mean if is a cheap styrofoam incubator thing.

So the egg turner is a vertical turner where the egg basically sways from one side to the other.
Do I need to turn the eggs 90° in the vertical position every day as well, Or would the automatic swaying back-and-forth in the egg turner be enough?
The reason I ask is because it acts just like a metronome and only two side of the egg with alternate between being down or up, thus the two other sides wouldn’t.

ya, I can't imagine how an egg turner would even fit in there but apparently, it does. I did not get one. I just turned by hand 3 x a day.

I couldn't see where I was pouring into the troughs either. The directions said to fill #1 so I did and the humidity went crazy high so I had to soak it all up and finally figured out that I just needed a splash of water to get the humidity to where it should be. I have a log book where I write all that kind of stuff down so I'm not struggling so much when I do it again.

Oh and the temperature on the incubator had to be set at 101.2 in order for it to register 99° on my acurite temp/humidity device that I put inside of it. "They say" that the acurite is the most accurate so I went by that instead of the incubator.
