Hello! Raised in the country, now have a granddaughter who loves chickens so we are bringing them to the backyard in the suburbs. Just got our new coop today and will be receiving Rhode Island Red hens next week. Looking for a new learning experience for grandkids.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Had them on the family farm my whole life. First time in the burbs.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 2 arriving this week.
(3) What breeds do you have? Rhode Island Reds
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Educational for the grandkids, eggs and something to bring life to the property and care for.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Fishing.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Have a lab named Buck.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community. Resource for beginner and heard about it two weeks ago when started researching chickens.
