I guess I read that different.......

I took it as YOU ARE A GOOD MOMMA--in a GOOD way....meaning that she was trying to help the chick to begin with....I guess I didnt' look at it negatively meaning that she was good--in a bad way....
I don't have a garbage disposal, but I so could see that happening to me too if I were trying to help a chick outta it's egg....

Hope the little one makes it...

will have to let us know what you named the little one....

We all make mistakes. Learning to candle over a heavily padded surface. Helping over a towel instead of the sink. Usually lessons learned the HARD way.

I hope little Insinkerator makes it.

I like the name suggestions: Chopper, Grinder, etc. I hope the little guy makes it. He sure earned his/her place in the world.

And another vote for "I think you read this wrong". I thought they were saying she was good for trying to help as best she could. If I am wrong, I will give myself 10 lashings with a wet noodle.

Blade. Ha ha. Just think of how many people you saved from making this very same blunder? And the chick's young enough, he probably won't even remember the incident. Just think of the power he would have over you. You: Blade! Stop eating my garden! Blade: Oh I remember you. Aren't you the person who dropped me in the garbage disposal when I was little? I'll eat what I want. When I'm done here, I'm pooping on your front steps. So you see, what we have here is a wonderful learning experience to be shared by all. And while we're at it, I have a week old Serama that keeps jumping out of my hand. How his guts aren't mangled from hitting the floor is beyond me. I need an appropriate name. All I can think of is Look Ma No 'Chute.

Wow, that is something that would happen to me too. I even cracked an egg (a lavender orpington egg at that) that was due in week while turning eggs....I panicked, nail polished and band aided it shut and it hatched! So good vibes to your chick that he is OK.

Have ya seen how chicks are handled in a hatchery? The Insinkerator should do just fine. He's got a good momma looking out for him (even if she is a bit clumsy).

Thinkin good thoughts for ya.

I think some of you read that message wrong too.
