Here's a mystery....

The mystery deepens.

Another small egg today. But it's a different color. The first one was a medium pinky brown. This one is a pale yellowy brown. I think I got two new layers. Isa and Rocky? I found a black and white feather in the box yesterday so that one was probably Rocky. But it could be a Wyandotte or Isa or Snow the Cochin.

Things are looking up eggwise. They do need more calcium though. More oyster shell. Today's egg shell was pretty weak.

Thanks for your help guys. This has been fun.

Didja do this yet?
Having a group of pullets near onset of lay is the perfect time to start exams. Good to know what a healthy vent looks like and get them used to being examined for bugs. I do all exams off the roost after dark.

Check them all then every time you see a new egg, check them again.
