Heres another coop...

Make sure the floor and bottom edges are not rotted. That would be my biggest concern.

You can replace the roofing and even a piece of the sides but replacing flooring would be difficult and expensive.

The shape reminds me of a hog house...

As far as price it would cost much more than 100.00 to build one that size given the price of lumber.....

Good luck with your decision and if you get it please post before and after pics. We love pics on here!!

Personally, I would skip it! It looks like it could be a pain to clean and believe me, bending down all the time to clean and collect eggs get really old really fast! I bought a new coop within a year of getting my first coop so I didn't have such an aching back - and I'm relatively young and healthy! Save your back, buy something tall!

Dunno I could have that thing on 2-3 foot legs in a half a day for the cost of a case of beer for labor.

this is the only negative post so far, as for it not being tall enough, you could always set it up on blocks, cut an 8 ft 4x4 into 4 legs each would be 2 foot tall....one wall or the roof even could be put on hinges for easy access to clean, nest boxes could be made to extend out the sides....there are endless possibilities here. you can't build a 12 x 12 run 4 foot high for $100, you better grab it before someone else does. it if turns out you don't like it, paint it and triple your money easy!

I would get it if you can move it! Check for rot in the floor, check that you can clean it, check that it isn't REALLY dirty - you don't want to bring disease with you.

yay!

As long as the wood isn't rotten, the rest can be dealt with easily!! At that price, you couldn't make one yourself. Fix ups and height adjustments are pretty easy.

Then go for it! It looks like it could be really cute. I just got tired of bending over, but you may not. Go for it and let us see the progression. I like the other cinder block idea too.

It would also make a great brooder/baby coop.

I think it is a great starter coop! As someone else stated, check for rot. Otherwise it's a little diamond in the rough. Have fun.
