Early comb development, male specific feathering on wing coverlets and saddle indicate that he is indeed a cockerel. What gives it away? I'm trying to get better at recognizing the features at young ages

I only have a bielefelder rooster so unfortunately that's his only father option lol. He’s not half Bielefelder since he has no barring. If the Bielefelder was the mother, her male offspring would be barred and if it was the father, all offspring would be barred. He would be part Easter Egger and is definitely a cockerel
Thanks!Early comb development, male specific feathering on wing coverlets and saddle indicate that he is indeed a cockerel.
Thanks!I'd like to add that his legs look pretty thick. That's one of the first signs that stands out to me even when they are pretty young chicks. When you see the red comb, the lanky awkward body shape, pointed hackle and saddle feathers... then ya know you've got a cockerel.
I am really loving the mixes I'm getting from my roo though, the hens have been great layers and the boys have grown fast and I've had some very tasty soupThat bird will be crowing its ass off in 8 weeks, betcha a donut. Comb is not super big but has a lot of color and is still big for a juvenile hen. Neck hackles, saddle, leg thickness, all point to probable rooster. Too bad he is a mutt. It is much easier to sex a purebred chicken by appearance. You know what to expect to see, from either sex.
He’s not a pure Bielefelder then. Pure Bielefelder roosters are double barred. No purebred rooster is single barred (the only possibility for an unbarred son). He’s a mixed breedI only have a bielefelder rooster so unfortunately that's his only father option lol.
That could well be as I purchased him from a lady that got him and others from a hatchery, so he's definitely not from a breeder. Here's a terrible photo of him and also of a daughter of his that is red (but she also cpuld be his daughter AND granddaughter if that makes a difference....yes he has the option to breed his offspring)He’s not a pure Bielefelder then. Also is this barring kind of hidden under the top feathers? He’s not a pure Bielefelder then. Pure Bielefelder roosters are double barred. No purebred rooster is single barred (the only possibility for an unbarred son). He’s a mixed breed
