Hi y'all, I'm finally getting chickens this August/September and, after much deliberation, decided to order 25 straight run day old Dominique chicks from a breeder on the Dominique Club of America's breeder directory. I know - a bit crazy for a first timer. I would order less but 25 is the minimum, so I was wondering if anyone might be interested in taking some of the extra chicks off my hands once they arrive. I'm thinking of charging $3 a chick but can be flexible on this.

Dominiques are supposed to be auto sexing, so I would probably keep 1-2 roosters and 8-12 hens. Anyone can come pick up the remaining ~10-15 chicks, or we can drop them off if you're close enough. These are good quality birds bred by a great breeder who has had birds on Champion Row. Dominiques are a heritage breed (the oldest in America!) known for fantastic foraging skills and great dual purpose capabilities. Just remember that they're straight run so I can't guarantee any hens, especially after I keep the ones I need.

Please let me know if you're interested, or if you'd like more information!

My dad had a pet Dominique (he called it a Dominicker) when he was a little boy. I have heard good things about them.

Yes, I've heard a lot of good things too! It seems that a lot of older folks remember having them back in the day when they were popular dual purpose birds. I'm glad your dad had a good experience with them :)
