Heritage Large Fowl - Phase II

400

Dominique LF Feb. Cockerel. Still have some little issues to clear up, but improvements are being made. I feel Bird has good type. Cleaning up color is next.

I like the breed Dominique.

I've always liked them but never owned so much as one. Perhaps some day.

For no particular reason, I'm looking very hard at BLACK Marans and I have always 'sworn' that I'd never own a bird with feathered feet. I don't really know what the attraction is...I don't really care about the shade of brown the eggs come in ...Just something that I can't put my finger on. Senility rapidly approaching???

Maybe. Maybe not. Some of these notions come and go. Sometimes it helps to set on these for a time.

I have a few that I would or would have taken on, given another time and place. Leghorns, Brown or Dark Brown. Dominiques are another. Possibly Campines, Gold or Silver. I would like to see us get both the New Hampshire and Delaware right. I like White and Black Wyandottes, but I do not like the excessively loose feathered birds that I keep seeing.

I took two yard bird pullet Ameraucana's to Knoxville. One was a blue that got best of variety out of two, and the other a black that got second out of about seven or eight. I sold them out of the show cage and nearly got my hotel cost back. I picked up a pair of Rhode Island Reds from Matt Ulrich and a pair of Black Ameraucanas that have more purple sheen than I have ever seen. I know that is undesirable, but the cock is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! It's back looks like it is covered in purple and green jewels! I think I will hatch a bunch and sell them to 12 year old girls.

George, if you ever decide to have a go at Silver Campines, let me know! I would love to have another breeding partner.

hey, curious if you guys are game with helping a small time breeder on their bantam Krainkoppees? (I so need to work on remembering that spelling!

) our farm likes focusing on the odd ball rare*ish* breeds and focus on good quality but as the poultry fanatic who mans this insane ship...chatting with more experience over all breeders would be awesome!

Sorry...I know less than nothing about any bantam breeds. You might pose your question on the thread linked below because there are some folks who come there that might be able to help you.
