Heritage Large Fowl - Phase II

Color Genetics question for APA SOP Description Of Red Sussex.
Hi,
looking for clarification from someone who know. The red Sussex.
The male described on page 105 of SOP. There are 3 colors of mahogany red listed in the Standard.
Lustrous Mahogany Red , Rich Mahogany Red, Mahogany Red.
That is the difference between them and if known, which genes make that difference?
Is the color pattern exactly the same as the SQ Rhode Island Red?
Thanks,
Karen Go Seahawks!!

I am a bit of a Peyton fan myself. An SEC football fan, I have been watching him for a while. I thought he was a pretty classy guy then and still do. So . . . I am pulling for the Broncos this evening.

And empty pens do not stay empty long. Was not long ago, I was bragging on all of my freed up space. That will not last long. It is about like a cabinet incubator. I swear the devil is in that thing. Once it is cranked up, I can't quit putting egg in.

Well the Steelers didn't make the Super Bowl ( thanks to a bad early season and
that blown call at the end of the Chargers game ( ref should have been punished
on that one! ). My younger son is USCG out of Bellingham, Wash so I am cheering
for the Seahawks even tho both he and I are Steeler fans!

Does anyone know if adding what gene?? (Mahogany, Dark Brown or?) to a red bird's
genome causes the need for a salmon colored section in the underfluff, instead of
being red to the skin as in SQ RIR?
The RIR color *seems* the same color as Red Sussex but RS always
mentions Mahogany in their SOP description and RIR does not. Anyone know the
genome for APA SOP SQ RIR ( love those anagrams!!)
Does "recessive blacks" in the SQ RIR genome cancel out the Mahogany hue ( even tho
Mh may be present) and make it look a darker shade of red instead?
Thanks,
Karen

I can't do anything foolish. We freed up space to free up time. When all is accounted for, we plan to keep about 100 +or- production NNs, eggs for friends and ourselves and broods for our SOP project. Not getting ready to sell the bators just yet but in a year or so..might make someone a good deal!
