heritage meat bird???

Naked necks are a really nice dual purpose bird to cross.
They get huge, are bred to be dual purpose, lay big, brown eggs, are gentle, heat and cold hardy.
Even Hubbard uses them for some of their International meat bird crosses.

My Naked Necks have put on meat faster than my heritage Wyandotte roo, same age. I have not butchered any NNs as I don't have any to spare presently. Many chicken people are grossed out by their looks, but my folks taught me "Pretty is as pretty does." I think this applies here. They are great chickens.

I think I am going to get turkens again, just a couple, and put them with my marans roo. Might be a nice combo for meat birds. And turkens are really sweet birds and lay well too.
