i have hatched alot of chicks but this has me a bit concerned.
I have a chick that has what looks to be a hernia.
Another just hatched with really really thin skin on its belly and i think it could get worse and tear.
What should i do?
They are about 2 days early too.
any ideas?

Could this have any thing to do with the crazy temps?

I don't know... have heard lots of mention on the board about unabsorbed yolks... maybe this is what it is? I would imagine a pic would help the folks here to give you an idea of what it is. Hopefully someone will come along that can help more.

I just hatched out one that has a hernia, it piped on day 20 and I ended up assisting it on day 22. It had gotten partly out then stopped and the membrane ended up making it unable to get out. All yolk was absorbed, and there was absolutely no bleeding, only this hernia.

I put all the other chicks in the brooder so it has the incubator to itself. It is weak and I am just wondering if there is anything else I should try to do for it.
