He's too pretty!

Pretty boys everywhere! :love

I’m still quite new to roosters, we’ve only had our guy Humphrey for about two months, but he’s great! He’s too funny to watch with the girls, and his crow sounds kind of like a toy rooster...my husband and I both love him! Plus he’s very handsome and kind to his gals.

Aww! I love hearing stories of good roosters (I plug my ears and "la la la" when I hear bad rooster stories...lol)

But really...these three are my very first roosters (after years and years of only having hens). They are all young, and seem like great guys - I'm remaining positive that it can stay that way :fl
So, here are my fellas...

Dickey - frizzle bantam Cochin, 24 weeks old

All of these roosters are so majestic! ...stunning guys!:love

I currently have only two roosters (no other chickens). Bucky (my avatar) is a long-tailed bantam and is the most cuddly, couch potato snuggler chicken I've ever had. His 'brother' Peeper (photo attached) is also quite cuddly

& loves to hang out on the couch...and they get along great together. They don't like to be out of each other's sight.

Loving your gorgeous fellas!

I am new to roosters but with 3 batches of chicks I'm going to be having a few! 2/3 of my first batch are roos. I was sad when I first realised but I really like them (I dont' touch them - thier mum is a crazy warrior silkie that never let me near them :lau) and I'm hoping I can keep both. I was originally too worried about the 'bad' rooster stories and was going to go for the Coq au vin / freezer camp option with any roos but I've now done an about face!

King Louis is lovely and seems so sweet with the girls (stays in the tree with his sister until I fetch her into the coop!) and he is so handsome. He is an Orpington X (not sure exactly - he came out of a mixed pen) Eeek just realised I dont' have a recent pic of him - I'll get one later! This was a while ago when he was maybe 6 weeks:

The 2nd roo from the first batch of chicks is a gorgeous pure white Araucana - I just can't imagine putting such a magnificent looking roo in a crock pot so hoping I can keep him and hoping that he can help me fulfil my dream of breeding some Easter and Olive eggers (not something I have been able to find here in France - maybe I'll start a craze!). Being a pretty rare bird here if I end up not being able to / wanting to keep him I'm hoping I can sell him. I havent' yet chosen a name for him.
Here is the gorgeous boy - excuse the very unattractive background of my compost box

look forward to seeing them fully grown (3 months old now).

My 2nd lot of chicks (8 weeks) is amazingly only 1 roo out of 5. He is a Blue Orpington and veyr gentle so far so I will probably try to find another home for him as I think 2 roos will be enough (if not too many!) for my flock. The 2 big boys were hatched together too so I'm hoping for minimal trouble - they went through a few weeks fighting daily (but pretty gently really) and seem to have worked out that Kind Louis (name courtesy of my son Louis :lau) is boss. We shall see what happens when hormones really kick in!

I'll post again with my updated pic of King Louis! Ideas on a postcard for the Araucanas name :D
