Here are Hester's first four days of egg-laying. The first and third in the row were laid at the same time as a second egg that was soft. So in her first four days of egg-laying, Hester (an Isa Brown, about 17 weeks old now), has laid 6 eggs. We know it's the same chicken, since she's the only brown egg layer in her coop, and so far, the only one laying at all. I am surprised at how much darker the shells are getting so quickly as she gets her egg-laying system up and running. Any ideas when she'll stop having the secondary "misfire" eggs?

My dominque started with large speckled egg then each day they got a bit smaller and darker and now she lays everyday a beautiful egg like the last one on your right side of photo!

It can take several weeks for production to regulate
I like to say...'up to a month or so'.
Had hybrid layer that laid lots of doubles for the first 3 months, along with prodigious runs of day in a row(32,49,34,20) with one day off in between.
