Hey! I'm new at this so anyone who can answers my questions would be a major help.


1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens. Just got my new coop set up & i'm getting my chickens on Monday!! EEEKKKK!!! i'm super excited if you cant tell.


(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
none at the moment.

Housekeeping, crafting, spending time with my family & Friends.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 2 Siberian Huskies & 3 Coon Dogs. I hunt: Coon, Deer, Bear. I love being at home and doing crafts & updating my home. I am addicted to pinterest.

1. How often do laying Hens lay eggs?
2. Whats the best food to feed them?
3. Whats the best way to defend my chickens from Coyotes & Bears?
4. How many chickens to 1 coop? *smaller sized coop
5. Tips/Advice for a newbie

Glad you joined us!

1. Depends on the breeds. Some of the best laying breeds will lay up to 300+ eggs in their first year and slow down gradually after that.
2. For active laying hens, layer feed.

4. Aim for 4sf ft floor space per chicken in the coop (with bantams and smaller breeds you can go a bit smaller) and 10 sq ft in the run.
5. Browse through the Learning Center, make sure you never ever underestimate predators (or chickens' intelligence), build a big coop so you have space when you discover how much fun chickens are and decide to get another 20 and have fun!

if you wait a few weeks you can submit clear, closeup photos on "what gender or breed is this?" Mention age in photo and it's best if you have individual photos rather than a group shot.
