Sounds like you are well on your way to the wonderful world of chicken addiction.

Sometimes it takes a little while but someone will be along to help you out soon.There are a lot of very smart people on here.


Also if you can find a book or 2 on chickens it could be very helpful. Storey's Guide to chickens is a good one. Keep Chickens by Barbara Kilarski is another.

I did not know they could drown!! The man really didnt tell me much. He gave me a big scoop of what ever he was feeding them...I have a funny feeling it isnt right. There is a feed store down the road Im going to go to here in a bit.
 
Feed stores are wonderful places. They should be able to fix you up with everything your babies need. Have fun! It's like a candy store for me.

ok back from the real feed store. I got the start and grow. VERY VERY different from what I was sold yesterday. Im concerned they wount be able to eat these pieces. The other stuff looks like powder and the start and grow is little chunk pieces. Will they be ok with this change in diet?
 
Your chicks, are they standards or bantams? If they are standards they'll be fine. The biggest problem is that they will dig through the feed to find just the right piece and much of it will end up on the floor. When this happens to me I just take their feeder away for one day but also uncover the feed that's under the bedding to teach them to clean it up so it doesn't go to waist. If they are bantys, you might want to run the feed through the blender for the first week or so so the pieces will be smaller and easier for them to eat. I always do this for my banty babies.

They are lil bantams. Ok I need to go buy a blender now to. LMAO Will a little mini chopper work {food processor} I have one of those I use to chop nuts for my bird bread for the parrots. Im trying to load pictures {little town, dial up} Do you guys wanna see my babies???
