I always find myself going through this website and welp today I wanted to be part of all those convos to maybe have some questions answered and to learn from other chicken owners.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, I just got all my chicks on 4/10/19.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 8 little chicks right now.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have two ISA Browns, three Silkies, and three Barred Rocks.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love animals just to started with and I just love how cute Chickens are and how friendly they can be.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to garden, take care of house plants, take care of animals and fix/build things.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with two other people, my mother and sister. I have two cats, an American long hair and Khao Manee. I also have a betta fish and one dog called KC, she is a Papillon. I am currently going into a trade at the moment.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I have been coming on this site for about 3 to 2 months now trying to learn different things about chickens and today I will join the community.

It's great to have you here! You picked some nice breeds for a pretty flock... you don't need a rooster though. Silkies do have a tendency to get broody and like to "sit" on the nest and hatch eggs, and they do make great moms. But without fertile eggs you may just have take steps to break their broodiness. As far as I know, silkies are usually sold as straight run, so you might end up with a boy anyway.
