Hey! I currently have two chickens, my third was killed a couple of weeks ago.
I look forward to everyones chicken photos, info and all things chicken!

I am sorry for your loss. Welcome to the forum. This is definitely a great place.

I tried to add more chicken to my original flock of 3, Lost one so I added 4 more but they were instead 2 distinct flocks and the chickens never did mesh. Later I lost one of the original two, she was egg bound. So I thought well maybe now the one would join the 4 other ones but she was just always low in pecking order. She was a wonderful broody hen for me but even the chicks she raised - when her broodiness wore off - She ignored the chicks and so then I had three distinct little flocks.

Maybe others have had a better time integrating new chickens but I did not have any luck. Just keep this in mind if you decide to add to your flock. I enjoy all of my chickens. I love to watch them and the bring me great joy.

Thank you for sharing that, I have thought about having issues bringing in a few new chickens. I would love to have a more though. They are the sweetest things, I love to sit with them in the yard, they bring me great joy, also!
