I am a newbie on here and interested in fancy breeds
My coop is almost done and so far I have a blue splash silkie, barred rock, and black and white polish chick... I am waiting but I think 2/3 may be roosters They are only 2 weeks old.
The polish is skittish but so far they are so much fun!! I had no idea I would like chickens so much and have done some research to see which breeds are my favorite. If you have any pics or opinions on these please share them with me. Here in Franklin these breeds are hard to find unless tractor supply gets some.
My goal is to have a small flock consisting of some of these. Thanks for this forum!!

I have some maran mixed eggs in the incubator now...The local guy I got them from has 2 marans roosters a black and blue copper over his laying flock...so all kinds of hens with the 2 marans roosters. A lot of the breeds you named too...so I can't wait to see what I get! I don't know if I have met a breed of chicken I don't like...
I don't really like barred rocks. I mean they are nice looking, but I just am not their biggest fan. I like the look of silkies, but I really love eggs and getting large eggs, so silkies aren't that practical for me...No cochins either. Although I did really want some for a while. I think polish are the neatest looking, especially the mixes. I like it when you see a mix with a big v comb.

Thanks for the input! I was reading that polish are supposed to be decent layers, small medium, but good amount of em. I hope that's true. Then again I think I might have a rooster... U guys will have to help me here once they get their combs in. .
