Hey from North Carolina

That would be quite a quandary for me; I adore my poultry, but I am also a big fan of snakes. A 3-foot-plus bull snake and I surprised each other this weekend, but it was well away from my coops and happily returned to the wooded area at the edge of the property after staring at me for a few seconds.

Welcome to BYC, where I hope someone can offer a helpful solution for you!

Hello,
Fell in love with raising and caring for chickens about 5 years ago. I live in central North Carolina and currently have about 30 various breeds of chickens. Mine free range but I do lock them up at night and if the air activity is really active 🦅! Presently having a bit of a snake problem. Pulled three king snakes out of my coop today two that had swallowed some of my teenagers? I am a snake lover and appreciate the work they do around our homestead keeping g away the copperheads but now they have gone to chicken killing so we ended up relocating them? My coop is very large with three separate house and a large run, way to big to cover with hc, so any other suggestions would be nice
Won't dogs take care of snakes? I know ours gives 'em fits. Oh, and hello from SE Georgia. :frow

Welcome from another Tarheel! I have a black snake that's been eating my eggs. I've found a shed skin, but haven't sighted the snake yet. I know from the skin that it's every bit as big as the last one pictured below. I'd like to relocate it, but it's eluding me. Last time I had one it ate one of the ceramic eggs and when we found it we dispatched it. You can see the ceramic egg stuck too far down the snake to ever have hope of getting out again.
