Hey TS! Your thread is still so fun and entertaining! The coop looks great! I bet you are LOVING the fact your wife is already planning on more chickens!

Have you thought about making a small "grazing tractor"? I am making one to attach to my chicken tractor or use free standing in the yard. So I can provide fresh grass and forage everyday. I am only making mine to be used in the daytime when most predators are not out and only for use when I am home. Mine is just going to be a 10X8 box of 2X6 on the bottom and 2X4's to support sides and top then I am going to put 2in X 4in rectangle fence the roll was 4ft tall and 50 ft long I think it was $40.00 at Lowes. And 4 7in lawn mower wheels on hex bolts with washers. So far it isn't very heavy and I think I will be able to move it by myself. I don't have it done yet so once I get it done if it works well and you are interested in checking it out I can post pics. Right now I have a makeshift fence to let them forage while I am sitting there to keep watch until I get my grazing tractor done. So far my chicks LOVE getting out and foraging but I can't let them roam free because their #1 predator is standing RIGHT BESIDE ME!

I was thinking of of making a tractor out of PVC for meat chickens ... if I let my birds range it will be the last hour before dark under my supervision ... otherwise, it's the run and coop.

I would LOVE to see pics of your tractor, tho!!! Please post!

The only thing I would change is, on the a-frame, have one side lift up, not the ends... It can be a pain in the butt.....
