Are your banty chickens mean?Probably my RIR and Buff Orpingtons! I like both of those chickens the best so far I think! I just started in April when my cousin gave me some banty hens and we now have 22 chickens
How sweet. My friend has a banty hen that they think killed one of thier roos. haha! My buffs will jump in my lap, too; that's why my brother's call me a 'chicken whisperer' .
He loves the chickens! He is always asking me if he can get in their pen or let them out. He also loves to get the eggs out! She wants to be so helpful with them! I think its a good thing for him, seeing how to take care of them, and how they grow! But tto stave off the "talk" we tell him that the rooster pees on them to firtilize the egg! Its funny! How sweet. Ha! The other day I accidentally cracked an egg and it was fertile so we know now (for sure) that the rooster, Goerge, is getting around. Our RIR hens jsut recently started laying and we think only two of the six are laying right now.He loves the chickens! He is always asking me if he can get in their pen or let them out. Cool. This is my first flock, too. I really do enjoy taking care of my chickens, but I don't like it when I have to take care of my brother's chickens when he isn't there, like cleaning out nesting boxes and cleaning the run.I recently acquired these guys in September of last year so this is my first time raising or caring for chickens; the neighbors moved and left them behind to fend for themselves. But they are just starting to get used to me good and are growing less flighty when I enter our make shift coop lol. But they are a joy!
I have 21 hens and got 16 eggs in 1 day. We usually average about 12 to 14 a day though. And I have seen several that are fertile also!Ha!
