Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

As usual, you guys had some yummy things on the menu last night. So, what's on the menu tonight?

We'll be eating vegetarian tonight, which we try to do from time to time. I've got some Ethiopian lentils in the crockpot. I won't be making any injera to go with it because I don't have time, but I do have some thickish tortilla bread that they gave me for free at the bread outlet store. I'll also make a salad for more veggies in the meal.

What a good man! Thankfully, I'm married to a great guy, too.

Backyard Buddies, I wish my family liked lentils. Fridays are meatless days for us.

Today, was one busy day. We had hamburgers, applesauce and frozen french fries. Quick, easy and little clean up.

Backyard Buddies and Prairie Girl are you the only 2 cooking tonight?!!

In March I bought 2 Corned Beef briskets because they were on sale of course! I found a link on another thread for crock-pot recipes. My DS hates CB and cabbage, although I do cook it once a year any way!

On this link I found something called Glazed corn beef so I am giving that a go tonight. You cook the meat in the CP for 10 hours then baste it with a sauce( mustard,horseradish,red-wine vinegar and molasses) and bake it in the oven for 20 minutes.

My garden was just planted so I bought baby red potatoes. I think I will parboil them and place them o the broiler pan with the CB when I put it in the oven.

I hope you all had a great day!

Oh and if you missed my thread earlier today. I had my first successful broody! My Silkie "Paris" is a mama! I am going to try to get a picture tonight yet and get it posted. Have a nice evening!!

I think SO got tired of stew style dinners (2 nights in a row). He is making dinner tonight. Bacon cheese burgers. We'll have salad with that, since we had to pick all our lettuce last week and have a refrigerator full of cleaned lettuce ready to eat.
We still have leftover chicken in home canned tomatoe sauce. I'll feed some of it to the dog and have some for lunch tomorrow.
For desert we are having strawberries and bananas with whipped cream. Don't know who's fixing it, but we are both looking forward to it, so it will get done.

YUM! Some nights that could be a meal in itself.

thechickenchick, let us know how that corned beef was, please. It sounds kinda good. My DH doesn't care for corned beef and cabbage either, but will eat it once a year.
And, congratulations! How many chicks and how are they doing?

Another chaotic day here. We had eggs and toast with jam. I did manage to bake lemon bars so DH could have something sweet in his lunchbox.

yesterday we had Bologna on wheat bread with cheese, tomatoe onion and mustard. I had dr. apt so did not get to cook today we are having ham, mashed potatoes, asparagus, rolls, and I don't know about desert. I am diabetic so I don't fix that many of them. we are having a cook out monday with all the fixins macaroni salad pasta salad baked beans, burgers hot dogs bbq ribs but there are going to be alot here.

This is going to be a little bit of a different weekend here. Family is flying in from out of town to attend the graduation of one of our sisters who went back to school and completed her college degree even though she's 20 years older than her classmates. We're so proud of her!

Tonight will likely be dinner out at a local pizza place that is known far and wide for it's great pizza. One of our sisters ate there regularly when she lived in So. Cal and misses it.

Tomorrow will be a BBQ bash - steaks, ribs, watermelon, potatoes with the fixin's, BBQ beans, and carrot cake.

I fixed Honey Cumin Pork Chops, baked potatoes and green beans. Lemon bars for dessert. Also, watermelon.

Sounds like there will be some good eating this weekend. Ham sure sounds good. So does going out to eat pizza.
We all eat good!

We are going to a flea market/swap meet tomorrow so I won't be cooking a big breakfast. For supper we'll do some grilling. Steaks and I'm not sure yet. Any suggestions?
