Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Tonight its sausage and pepper hogies. One of the easiest and tastiest dinners I can think of. Relatively heathy since the sauces is from scratch and contains a ton of vieggies. We will have a green salad to go with it.

Okay... so I've been looking for this thread for 2 days now...

Oriental Crispy Wings ..some kind of spicy dipping sauce that I will eventually concoct before DH starts eating (or finishes eating ALL of them) ..and random other accompaniments to the wings..

Just subscribe to it. It'll let you know when new posts are added, which happens nightly as you know.

Lazy Fridays are my favorite day of the week, second only to Sunday. DS's friend had to take a rain check on staying over so we'll get something fast and easy and settle down for a family movie night. Sound lazy enough?

Jamie_Dog_Trainer - Wow! That DOES sound good!!! Glad to have you in the kitchen with us!

We finally fired up the outdoor brick oven we just built (the one I've waited years for) ... so it was pizza palooza tonight!

I can't wait to bake some artisan breads tomorrow, followed by a nice roasted chicken!

I LOVE new toys!

As hard as others may try, I still miss Tutter! She was this thread's anchor. I pray she and hers are safe.

The original 'Hey Grandpa' thread was quite active ..until the off color remarks were made, I guess.. but I don't really think any one person is "trying" any harder than the next to keep this one afloat. We all cook... we all seem to like to share what we cooked... and it's fun..

....but I do think of Tutter pretty often ..and wonder if she's okay, etc.

Today has been a mixed bag of weather, but we are still planning to grill steaks. My sister gave us some special black rice to try so we'll be having that. The frozen green beans were so good the other night, DH wants them again. I'm not sure if we'll have them cooked tender crisp or sauted in garlic and butter. A salad should fill the menu.

I'm betting there will be alot of grilling this weekend.

I don't remember any off-color remarks on the old thread. How did I miss that?

Anywho - I also miss Tutter. I don't think she was just an anchor on this thread, but throughout the BYC sites, especially over at TEG where I'm sure she's just as missed as we miss her here. Her departure was sudden and unexpected during a time when fires were in her area. I hope all is well.

As I said before, I have a direct email address but despite two attempts to contact her, I've not heard from her. At the time of her last post, she was working hard on some projects at her property so I hope that life has just kept her busy and that she's OK.

I'm not sure what's for dinner tonight, but I am shopping this afternoon.. so it will be interesting

As for the thread.. I think we all bring something valuable to "the table" or "the kitchen" here.. and even in Tutter's absence (as well as, a few others that aren't as active any longer) ...we are making a nice contribution to the site, in general. Sure, a few of us are more active and actually post regularly, but think of all the people that just come here and lurk for an idea of what to put on the table for their own families, everyday? It's a nice thought, anyway.

I absolutely, wholeheartedly, appreciate each and every one of you ..that shares a dinner menu ..or a special family tradition recipe ..or even a recipe you picked up off the tele or a new magazine..... I love that about this thread! Of course, it's nice to come here and give support to one another through our trials and tribulations, as well... and be respectful of one another ..no matter our differences. That is very nice ..and you don't find it everywhere in your daily life ..especially, in a cyber setting.

Thank you all for your contributions ..and I hope we all can enjoy this ..and see the blessing and beauty in it.

Beautifully written, Aminah!

I, too, am grateful for each and every one of you on this thread. In my busy life, I don't have time to read and respond at BYC on a regular basis. If I did, I would have a lot more than 1,500 posts in my 27 months on this board!

But, you all are one of only a few groups to which I respond regularly here. We share not only our dinners (suppers to the rest of you!) but share in the ups and downs of our lives. And, when some have left our table, for whatever their reason, they're missed. I hope they know we always have a place set for them.

No matter how busy I get, I try to make you all a part of my life. If I've failed to express my gratefulness to that end, I apologize. Thank you to each and every one of you for bringing yourselves to this table. And, to those of you who're new to the kitchen, I hope that you'll come to love this thread and our fellow diners just as much as I do.
