Interesting. I didn't realize it was a local dish. It's always been on Italian menus I've ordered from in and around Chicago. There's a significant Italian population in Chicago, so perhaps that's why.

Well you’re lucky. I was raised in an area settled by Scandinavians. Terrific bakers but Christmas Eve dinner was Lutefisk and Swedish meatballs. My sister and I always thought we were too excited to eat but now that I think about it…

I made spaghetti last night. So of course it’ll be reruns tonight. Had the kids yesterday so was too frazzled to make a nice salad or prep fresh veggies but will tonight,

chicken picatta, baked potato, leftover ratatouille, and a mozzarella/tomato/Bibb lettuce salad.

There’s some spice in those though that just doesn’t belong. Possibly nutmeg?
