jnjross: Aint part of your quote from SNL? "I have a fever and the perscription is... more cowbell! I need more cowbell!" LOL That was one of my favorite lines, I still say that sometimes for some reason!

Thank you. I am feeling better this morninig. I finally took 2 tylenol PM, put in ear plugs to block out the wind and went to sleep!

Backyard buddies, How is you head this morning? Better I hope. When I was a kid my Mom said the wind would give her a headache. I never understood that, but I know she wasn't kidding! 91 degrees! It is 35 here and I swear I can feel snow flakes in the wind. We are supose to have snow by friday.

Oh wind... everyone thinks it gets windy here. It's nothing compared to the Santa Anas we had in Ca. I lived at the base of the mountain pass and it was not unusual for it to blow 75 mph for days! Trucks would flip over... I saw a 55 gal steel drum flying through the air like a toy. One year it took off our whole roof and blew off our chimney. The constant noise is nerve wracking. I read a story once about a pioneer woman in Nebraska who shot herself with her husbands shotgun. The note she left said, "Couldn't take the wind no more." It definately can drive ya over the edge. Then it stops and it's so quiet it's like the Twighlight Zone. Don't miss the Santa Anas. Can't count how many fences we rebuilt till we could afford a block wall. Trash would blow everywhere and the dust would make the sun orange... looked like Armegeddon... I'll take my downdrafts and microbursts over it any day!

Last night we had appetizers for dinner, something we normally only do on New Year's eve...cocktail shrimp, imported German cheese, crackers, cheese ball, chips, dip, veggie plate, deviled eggs. Kids like this.

That's a fun dinner. We do that sometimes too.

I want soup of some sort. I might make chicken noodle or potato bacon and onion.

I do that once in a while too. DH likes it as much as our son does! Usually happens on a friday, then we just kind of graze and sit around together and talk. MMMM? Maybe all this bonding over food is why my jeans are a little snug?!

Was visiting DMIL yesterday, taking my test for drivers permit(I missed three so I passed!!) She lives in Santa Pauls CA. It was 101* at 1:15 in the afternoon!

It is very common to get headaches from the wind. I get them frequently also. I had heard the same story about the woman in Nebrask, I feel fed up with the wind a lot, we live in a valley so it whips through here. When it's blowing hard you can stand on one side of the house and nothing, turn the corner and youo get knocked off your feet almost!

We try to have appetizers for dinner once a month, usually on a fri. or sat. and the we play games while we munch.

Last night was leftover lasagna. Tonight I am making scalloped potatoes with ham, onions, and lots of cheese, I will either throw some broccoli in it or have it on the side.

Everyones meals sound sooo good.

I am baking chocolate chip cookies right now. I am at a loss for dinner, maybe they will just be happy with cookies! Just kidding! The freezer is getting pretty empty so my imagination is working over time! I have less than a pound of burger left. I'm thinking something mexican. I have cheese, 5 tortillas, beans ,rice and jalepenos! Mix it all with some chili powder add some onions and olives, poof.... its a mexican casserole! Nobody will notice I just fed 3 people with 3/4 pound of burger and 5 tortillas! Anybody have any other suggestions to make it better?

Bird hunting season opens saturday and then deer season! Hubby doesn't really like to hunt, but it fills the freezer. He doesn't have to go far, basically just out the back door! I have never cooked or eaten pheasant. Does anyone have any advise or a recipe to share? Can you use it like chicken?

Spaghetti. Again.

It's all that ground beef I bought on sale. I still have 5 lbs of it. I think I will eat fish and chicken for a month after all this ground beef. Last night I didn't even eat the taco's I made - I had eggs.

Thanks! Yes, I'm feeling much better today. I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better as well, chickenchick. If I took 2 Tylenol PM's I'm sure I'd feel tons better. I can't take more than a half of one to completely put me out.

I just kept drinking tons of water all day then had a glass of wine after supper. I was much better after that!

It's still quite warm out there, but no winds have made it this way at all. If anything, it's dead still. We're close to the ocean so we don't tend to get the winds as bad as those who live further inland. Sounds like that's where you were Hennypennies. Ugh. It's awful, isn't it? But, the good thing is that it's most common in the fall, so at least it's limited. But, I'd rather have it near snowing like chickenchick is experiencing. A nice bowl of soup would be great.

I do Mexican casserole in the crockpot sometimes. Use the tortillas to layer the other ingredients. Do you have any corn? You could put that with those ingredients to stretch it even further. How about some canned tomatoes or some enchilada sauce? That'd give it some moisture.

It'll be breakfast for dinner tonight, here.
