Hey Grandpa, What's For Supper?

DH is always telling me to do the monday is chicken, tuesday is hamburger thing. You know When I was growing up, my Mom..... Well, I don't do that because sometimes I don't feel like chicken Monday, hamburger tuesday... But I do like to make a menu for the week or month, I just don't do it for specific days. So each day I can look at my menu and pick what one I want to make.

When I ask DH his opinion on what to have for dinner, he usually says I don't care or whatever or food. I tell him I ask because I am tired of deciding and maybe he feels like something in particular, or really doesn't feel like something in particular.

It is 36* here with strong COLD winds right now. We are having SOUP tonight. Probably broccoli cheese, I might put keilbasa or chicken in it and maybe make some dumplings. With hot chocolate and buttery popcorn for dessert while we watch a movie.

Soup sounds great! It is cold and windy, they are predicting snow. However we have to go to the "city" today for my Uncles funeral. Afterwards I have a feeling a huge plate of nachos (shared with DH) and a margarita(not shared!) will be in order! This is my Dads side of the family. Most of whom I havn't seen sinse my Dads funeral 7 years ago. Not real close and lovey you might say.

Well.. I decided to start posting the menu on the fridge again ..and this usually prompts DH to actually look and make comments.

Homemade Pizza tonight ...all the toppings!

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll be giving "cooking lessons" and a "pooter lesson" to a very dear friend ..so I think the rest of the weekend will be stuffed cabbage and possibly a split pea or potato soup (for us). It's windy up this way, too!

we have sore throats today and are sicky....

homemade chicken noodle soup (that i freeze and then defrost for such occasions)

and soft serve icecream...which isn't so soft once we put it in the freezer but it's nice for sore throats.

Right now I have a crock pot full of baked beans...but I have no idea what to have with them. I don't want the standard hot dogs or hamburgers. I'm open to suggestions!!

Maplesky7 I'm sorry you don't feel well. I hope you all get better soon, I agree that ice cream is the best thing on a sore throat.

aw, you are all so sweet thank you.

My girls are playing peacefully right now, thank the Lord. I fear of what mess I may have when I go look at what they are doing...they are in the board games/domino's...and I hear alot of dumping out. But I can pretend I don't hear it for a few minutes longer....I think. Anything but the whining...uh oh...I spoke to soon. There goes the 2 yr. old.

woke up sick and my dog can't control his pee this morning, he goes and goes and walks away and is still going for another 10 or more feet while he's walking. try dragging 2 sick kids and an exessive pee'r to the vet this morning...OH...and my phone was out...had to knock on 3 neighbor's till I got one that was home to call for service and the vet....

Vet told me I'm gonna have to catch his pee for a sample. How do you catch a dogs pee? I was creative and used my toddlers poddy chair insert and followed him around but he's a private kinda guy and doesn't like people to watch....but I got some!

It's not an infection and it seems to be a affect of the steroid shot he got the other day and he'll be over the excessive urnination in a week.

...and since this is a supper thread...I'll get back on track...

I had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich earlier.

That may go nicely with some beans?

me,
g

I am roasting a cornish X for dinner to go with the baked beans. I harvested a bucket full of tomatos from the garden and have them chopped and simmering on the stove with garlic and onion and sausage with herbs for dinner tomorrow night. What I really really really want for dinner tonight though is a big honkin piece of cake. I don't have any....so, I won't get my wish.

Tonight, pork chops cooked in cabbage, apple vinegar, and apples with sides of rice and apple sauce. Tomorrow, beef stragonoff(?) over wide egg noodles.

Redfeathers, How about smoked hocks in your baked beans. chased by a good bread and butter?

punkin - I've been craving pecan pie for a year! The price of pecans ($9.99/lb) here has me waiting longer, I fear. I might try a chess pie.

Redfeathers - we sometimes just have baked beans with a good brown bread (or better yet, a baked bean sandwich!). One of my Aunts was from Maine and made the BEST baked beans.

MoonbeamQueen - Those apple blondies sound pretty good (hint). Maybe you could share the recipe? Please?

Well y'all are more inventive than me tonight.....LOL....

Tonight was "rush around get it done before dropping them all off at various places" night.....so we had chicken nuggets and french fries, corn and sliced pears.

Tomorrow though is beef brisket (already marinating), home cooked baked beans and corn on the cob! An 'cuz I am craving it prolly blackberry cobbler
