Happy to join this group for all the info, resources, support and advice for our new flock!
My name is Rachel, and I'm a crazy chicken lady. (Hi, Rachel...)
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had chickens growing up as a teenager... we bought our first flock as day olds and then later hatched more of our own
I just recently acquired a few chicks and a few fertile eggs to start my own flock as an adult
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
3 that are about 3 weeks old, and 3 in the incubator *2 of which are currently hatching!
(3) What breeds do you have?
Of the 3 already born there as 2 Barbezieux and 1 that is a Barb-Ameraucana cross... (Barbecauna? XD)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Their personalities! So fun to watch them grow and start laying eggs
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love cooking, baking, painting, restoring cast iron, gardening, etc
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a single mom of a teenager, we have 2 cats and moved out to the country to have a quiet life
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Every time I searched for answers to questions I always end up at a BYC link with awesome info!
