Do you know of anyone who may be willing to sell & ship a blue Australorp rooster?

We will be selling 2 at the Greenlee County Fair next week, we just dont ship live birds, too many things can happen during shipment.

Yep , sure know what your feeling, took us 3 years to breed for them to the point where we can be picky who becomes a future breeder and who gets a new home.
We started with a Splash Orp female that we had to breed for from 2 Blue Orps of different lines that we hatched from eggs from a prominent breeder from Washington state. So thats one year just waiting for the Blue Orps to mature, then waiting for the Splash to hatch and mature, another year. Then waiting for the correct Black Australorp Male from Arkansas to mature from a hatching egg, theres 2 years . Hatching and waiting for the new Blue Australorps siblings to mature only to find the males carry a red or buff gene that has made the head and neck feathers grow to a reddish brown and the female lacing carry a similar color in their plumage. So that is 3 years just to get the color blue and not the total package due to the problem with the reddish gene. So now we have gone to another method using a Splash male Orp to 2 different Black Australorp females. These are very light in color but darken with age. We are seeing some of the problem gene again and will wait yet another year to breed the Blues to Blacks and see if the gene lessens or is completely removed. We are hoping for the best. Another problem is removing the Orpington traits from the birds by breeding back into the Australorp breed several times to remove the heavy fluff, short shanks and loose plumage that is carried by the Orps.
So as you see obtaining blue color in Australorps is not just a simple task its an adventure!

I know that this thread is old, and I had to hunt to find it again... Ok, Hupp isn't doing them anymore, but I have managed to get 3 of the females (2 blues and a black) that came from his line here in Arizona from Chase, and I have a Splash rooster and 2 hens (1 splash, 1 blue) from Kurt (Rattlesnake Ridge Line) too. I'm going to be ordering more hatching eggs from Kurt. There is also another lady who lives here in Arizona named Dianna that has a nice blue rooster from the Hupp line. She and I are going to work together to help to get them built up and keep them the way that these were meant to be.

Howdy, Im looking to trade some Quality bred Black Australorp eggs with another breeder of quality black australorps here in America for my Blue Australorp Project. no hatchery bird eggs please, Im needing good bloodlines to enhance the project. Once I breed i will send Blue/black eggs back to you just for helping out. presently there are no Blue Australorps in the American Standard of Perfection, Im in the process of achieving this. Quality breeders welcome to join in and make this happen!
