What colors are the parents?

Depending on what color they are... someone may be able to help better with the color genetics... you may be able to pair the offspring with something specific to acheieve what you are hoping for.

Henk 79 has a genetic calculator that takes some work but is fun to play around with. You could try that to see what you could get.

You could post a new thread to ask questions about thie coloring of your birds. There are some great color experts out there who could help you on your way.

mrschickendad, I'm no expert either, but it looks like a roo and it looks too dark and I would put it over a buff or buff columbian hen if you could...

For anyone who's interested, I will soon have extra chicks/started birds that I don't need for breeding. I've produced about 20 chicks this spring so far, and I'll be selling at least 10 or 15 of them.

I'll try to take pics of the babies, and current pics of the parents, in the next week. You can see recent pics of the parents here:

Don't pay any attention to the funny contour of the feathers under their tails -- I had to trim butts to get any fertility!

Oh, and another note -- all my mf birds are wheaten based -- no genetic variation there.

Very nice, amazondoc!

Thanks Rosemary!

I can't take any credit for the parents, though. I bought them last year as baby chicks. Mike Vogan gets the credit for em!
