I have a hen, of her sisters she is the first to start laying and just layed her second egg. After dark all the ladies are in the hen house on the tall roost, last night she stayed outside on the outside roost after laying her second egg. Why is this? First time for me to ever see one of them outside after dark.

She may be feeling strange, new layers have some odd behaviors until the get things in the groove..can take up to a month or so before she's comfortable with her new function. Laying can change up the pecking order too, so there might be some of that going on.

Unless she's showing signs of being unwell (lethargy, not eating/drinking, strange poops, inactive and isolated) just put her in the coop at night if needed until she returns on her own.

Thanks guys, she was back in on the roost last night and stayed there after laying her 3rd. I will continue to watch her closely though.
