Hi everyone! I'm Madison, clearly new here haha. I live in Texas, 23, fulltime stationary RV'ing with my husband (26 at the end of this month!), 3 year old daughter, 2 dogs, and now 6 chickies! We got the chicks for our daughter (more for me but I'll let her think they are hers lol)
We did have a traumatic event happen 1 1/2 weeks ago when our first "batch" of chicks (2 Golden Comets & 2 Speckled Sussex pullets) were murdered by our neighbors dog right in front of our 3 year old... neighbor could not care less of course. We decided to rebuild to ensure that never happened again and now keep a fully automatic BB gun loaded by their brooder... Now we have 6 chickies (2 BOs, 2GCs, and 2 RIRs) who are thriving in their new brooder set up and living their best pullet lives getting fat and sassy! We are both completely new to chicken life! I have spent SOOOOOOO much time researching as much as I could about breeds, living conditions, coop sizes/options, you name it I have spent all the time possible researching it. I want to be as prepared and knowledgeable as I can so we can prevent as much travesty as humanly possible. Our other neighbor raises chickens and has between 150-200 and has been amazing at letting us come over and see their set ups, he gives us tips and tricks, and overall super friendly! Even offered to give us chicks for free when we decide we want to expand! So far everything is going according to plan, chicks are doing great, our kid is very sweet with them, our dogs haven't been an issue (I have a schnauzer/terrier mix and husband has a chihuahua/demon mix), I just hope everything continues to go well, so any and all advice welcome! Hopefully I can continue to be a part of this amazing forum! I have learned so much from reading everything yall have to say! This is my first post but I've been lurking for about 2 weeks now and LOVE how everyone is so welcoming and friendly! As a SAHM and someone with no adult friends, I feel this group will become my new best friend lol. I will attach pictures of my family and animals below! thanks for having me!
