Hello Everyone,

I am looking to learn all about the pros and cons to raising backyard chickens. I live in St. Louis and I have a small yard with a big dog that may not like having chickens around. I garden but this year I took a break to rethink my gardening plans and do better things for next year. Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

! Happy you joined us. There are certtainly pros and cons to have having chickens. Obviously, most of the members of BYC feel the pros outweigh the cons. Is it possible that your dog can be trained to co-exist with the birds? I think a lot of dogs just becoming accepting or even protective of new additions to the family. If not perhaps just a really secure enclsoure for the birds to keep them safe. Whatever you decide I wish you the best of luck!
