Hi!! I just started raising chickens over the summer and have had some peaks and trophs haha ... I currently have two Cochins (hen and rooster) and two americanas (hen and ...unexpectedly rooster) ‍♀️ I LOVE these guys!!! Who knew it could be so much fun and so rewarding!! And also so heartbreaking!! Lost a couple when I first started ... one to coccidia or being egg bound we think (she was a BEAUTIFUL Plymouth Rock hen) ... and two to dog related incidents ... but now have a happy healthy flock with gorgeous, delicious eggs!! I hope to expand my flock for more egg colors ... and will probably re-home one of these roosters (not sure my neighbors are too happy) haha! Anyway, so excited to be here!

Welcome!
I love cochins and americanas- nothing beats colorful eggs and curious personalities, and cochins are my favorite chickens to watch- so friendly, too! You have excellent taste in chickens :)
Sorry about the plymouth rocks (and the dogs)- it's never fun to lose birds. Are you thinking about getting any more chicks this spring? Or will you hatch them (I so envy your being able to keep roosters )?
Have a lovely day!

Hey!! ☺️ Yes! I think I’ve found Cochins are too friendly to survive my backyard (dogs). ‍♀️ But I plan to get a maran and hopefully another Plymouth Rock or Dominique- I was recently corrected on that. They look so much alike!!
