Hi All -- CT Yankee newbie (to BYCF, not chickens)!

welcome-byc.gif
from ct.!! too!!
I know this winter has been brutal on my birds too. at one point i had a chicken in the house for 3 days, atleast once a week. they were molting terribly and at the worst times. lost feathers, and were real cold.

now that our snow is just about all melted, the girls are outside free ranging alot more. and so happy they are giving me about 5 eggs a day from 9 hens. you did mention, you are cooping them up? does that mean you dont have a run???? as others have mentioned, winter they slow down on egg production. you could supply them with a light source, but i dont think its nescessary now, with the lighter days approcaching. good luck and welcome here to byc!
