Happy Thanksgiving to you over there,

What do you do in this thanksgiving celebration? Do you give out presents, go to church, dress in certain way? All I know about Thanksgiving in America is the big family gathering meal like Christmas, except there is a big turkey. I wonder also what will Christmas meal be since that the turkey was for thanksgiving?

Is Thankgivings bigger than Christmas over there?

2nd COLD cup of coffee is ready. The weather over here is no good at all!!! I love my cherry tomatoes baked in the oven with just the usual salt, pepper, garlic and olive oil, it tastes so mighty good with bread or pasta. The humble tomatoes can be very fancy

Christmas is just about knocking on our door, the festivity at the shopping centre, the endless black Friday sales is advertisement is constantly bombarding on tv, radio, no escaping it. Then the news about how to avoid scams from these sales and sales.

When January arrives, there will be endless advertisement on how to consolidate one's credit card/s debts and how to shop for the cheapest interest rate to consolidate one's festive season debt. Then how to dispose those of unwanted gifts&wrappings sensibly. New things these last few years is that the charity shops are overloaded with unwanted stuff so they pick & choose what they will accept.

I love Christmas and fruits are my gift to family and friends, these last few year chicken eggs.

@SkyAJK, Thanksgiving used to be a time for family and friends to gather together, celebrate with a big meal, and give thanks. Thanks for the gathering, the festive meal, for each other.

It was a four day weekend full of family, food, fun. It was the first break in the school year for kids and teachers.

Then it became all about the food and was slangily called Turkey Day, since turkey was the traditional main dish.

Black Friday was the day after Thanksgiving, and marked the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. The reason it was called "Black" Friday was because it was when retailers hoped to move from being "in the red" (losing money) to being "in the black" (making money).

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

We had a great meal yesterday. I slept like the dead. Today I'm putting up the tree.

We usually put up the tree on Christmas Eve. Not because of tradition, but because, while I could skip it, hubby wants it up and waits until the last moment.

This year, I'm kind of looking forward to it. The table it sits on is covered with stuff. Lots of hubby's stuff. He will have to find places for all this stuff so that we can put up the tree.

I am not better at putting away stuff. I had to clear off the table for Thanksgiving dinner. Where did I put it? (No, not on his table.) Most of it is in piles on one of the chairs.

In our house, horizontal surfaces accumulate stuff.

The lake effect snow to the north of us is supposed to reach 12"-18"+.

We have a dusting and light flurries. ONE of the pullets came out earlier and slammed on the brakes. She's never seen snow before. She was thoroughly unimpressed and turned tail and went right back in the run. Wimp.

I plan to take the girls out for a run but they will need to be bundled as we have some decent wind to go along with the just barely above freezing temperatures. Not to mention the royal purple and hot pink coats should make it fairly obvious they are NOT deer. I heard a shot go off at 7 when I was heading to the coop to do water and feed this morning.

Hey all I overslept bad this morning it is noon.
Dogs went out at 5 I went back to bed did not wake till 10.
Now it is noon. I Have fire going dinner is planned.
This is my first cup of coffee.

I love the 4 days break and the foooood. It is very much like Christmas except longer time

I gathered that the retailers over here copied the Black Friday sales from your side and turned it into a 2/3 times Black Friday sales in a year, not just 1 like over there. I am constantly hearing about Black Friday Sales over here throughout the year.

We have Boxing Day sales that is the day after Christmas day, this boxing day sales have people queue up before the stores open and push each other to get in. I am baffle at this behaviour every year.

Having my 2nd cup of coffee now. I have 4 broody hens in my flock and I am feeling broody too..I want to see baby chicks so badly, but no, and no, I must be responsible by not having any.

@DobieLover that pullet put on a break once she saw snow is so cute.
