I have had to stand eggs in carton inside incubator due to shipped eggs having saddled air sacs. I want to use the cartons for hatch as well. My question is should they be completely vertical to hatch or am I supposed to tilt at all?

Yes tilt them. Change the tilt direction at least 3-4 times a day. NO LID on the carton. You don't want to insulate them from the warmth. Paper cartons are better then foam. Foam will insulate the bottom.

edited for grammar.

Make sure when you tilt them that it doesn't get any of the eggs too close to the heating element.

What kind of incubator are you using?
A Brinsea mini advance II. I’m getting ready to lockdown for hatch should they be straight up for lockdown or tilted in a certain direction?
