hi all, I'm new to BYC & really need some advice, I have had chickens for many years but only recently started with ducks & I must be honest I don't know much about them so I'm here to learn as much as possible.
I have had ducks for about 6/7 months so far its been pretty easy I have them free ranging by day & closed up at I feed them feed that was advised by our local vet & all seem happy & healthy I have a dozen ducks consisting of four males & six ducks.
Ok so we are moving into winter our side of the world & though my babies have been very active through the last few months eating huge amounts of food they are now pretty much the opposite they now seem well lazy I open their pen for them around ten each morning I have always left it open for them to come & go as they please as their pond is in their pen but in the past they never returned until i call for them around six but now they go out for a bit & return only to lounge about for the rest of the day by their pond
They finished their moult around end of December so it cant be that also someone told me in fact our vet told me they should start laying towards late June so I was wondering if this could be the problem (haven't had a single egg since I got them)
They look healthy they don't feel to light they are in beautiful condition I also thought the males might fight but they don't they seem to have paired off somewhat.
I f any of you could help with some advice I really would appreciate it
Thank you
