My wife and I brought home a dozen chicks yesterday from the local feed store. 6 Barred Rock pullets and 6 silver wyandottes pullets. They are in the RedNeck 2000 incubator (it involves a feed tub, a heat lamp, a ladder and lots of bailing wire). I started constructing the coop last weekend and hope to have it done by the end of April when it probably will be time to move them out side. Too much snow right now to set the footings so I can level the coop floor.

This is our first adventure with fowl.

Everyone is still with us. Had one of the barred rocks get a case of pasty butt, with some TLC she seems to have pulled through. They are sprouting wing tip feathers and some are sprouting tail feathers. My wife knitted up a net covering for the brooder. They can jump/fly high enough to peak out of the tub already. I layed the base for the coop and got 3 walls up. I hope to get the front wall on tonight and get the trusses placed.
