Sorry you had to let go of your girl. I have not yet been able to do it myself and have called on my friendly neighbors to do the deed the two times it was required here. So I envy your ability to do what's unfortunately necessary.

I really was dreading the day I'd have to do it and for a while, I thought she was going to get better. But after a long struggle, I realized one morning that she just couldn't fight any longer. I didn't do much... I held her while my father did the hard part. I know people here raise birds for meat and I'm okay with that, but this little bird was my friend. It's just not something you really want to have to do, decapitating a pet. I don't blame you one bit for having a neighbor do it. I might have even tried talking one of the vets into putting her down if it hadn't been Sunday and wasn't an urgent matter.
