Hi all! I just purchased a new house with some land so naturally I want some chickens. I previously raised some chicks from TSC but this time around going to raise them from eggs. I ordered three batches of eggs from eBay. The first batch, pictured below arrived yesterday and is a mystery batch. I'm also waiting on some silkies and seramas. I look forward to chatting with you all!

That depends on the breed and temperament. The last time around the roos were harvested for soup. Now I'm in the country and want a roo or two and have the space to keep them separated.

You will have a lot more than one or two hatching that many eggs.

I do expect that and unfortunately culling is a part of raising chickens. On a positive note, I can cull out overly aggressive roosters and be left with a very friendly flock.
