Hi all! I've been on the site several times, but just now joined. I live in a smaller city on a fairly small lot. But, through the skin of my teeth, we can just barely have chickens legally! So we are building a coop and going to get some chicks soon! Going to make it 8'x5' with a run underneath and a range area 36'x12'. Going to take a chunk out of the yard, but I think it's completely worth it. We have frigid winters and hot summers, so I am thinking about Rhode Island Red for our go to breed. From what I've read, they seem pretty hearty and easy to care for as long as you keep them entertained so to speak. We'll just start with a handful this year and see where the year takes us! So excited to plan as we go!
