Hi! Brand new to chickens (Louisiana)

I am getting my chicks on Friday or Saturday! I am so excited! I live in South Louisiana with my dh and 2 sons, both with special needs.
We are getting 5-6 chicks, mixed flock. Feed store told me she will have Ameracaunas this week (they make me squee with excitement! I think my boys will love the fancy eggs). I am planning on one of each; Buff Orpington, Rhode Island, SexLink, Ameracauna, Barred Rock. And one more.
We had a few chickens when I was a child and I am excited about sharing this with my boys.
