Just a quick hello to introduce myself. I'm very new to chickens, absolutely no experience as a kid, just turned 42 and apparently I'm going thru "menopause" lol.
I got my first 4 beginning of March and have been adding a few every 6 weeks since then. I get my babies from a local woman and due to this, they are all straight run and I have already had to rehome 5 roosters. As of now, I have 8 hens and I roo, just got my first egg on the 4th of July!!!!
I am not one of the delusional people who was under the impression that I would save millions with eggs, I simply want to be more self sufficient and have always wanted to have a small homestead type of life.
The experience of getting these babies has been incredibly fulfilling for me, it brings me a sense of peace and contentment. I spend more time outside and feel a lot better because of it.
I currently have 4 RIR's, 2 speckled Sussex, an olive egger, and 3 BYM.
