Hello
Thank you for having me as a member. I recently after three years research, planning and getting my husband onboard lol went ahead and ordered my first 2 chicks in April of this year. Both are hens, one is Henrietta who is an inquisitive Rhode Island Red and the second is Blackie a Barred Plymouth Rock. I got both as day old chicks and had my brooder fully set up and ready when I brought them home from the hatchery by St Jacob’s. I spend each day admiring them and caring for them.
A few weeks before I pick up my girls I began building my coop and run. It took me 8 weeks to do this as I have some health issues that impact what I am able to do on a day to day basis and I did not want the help of my husband or adult son. I wanted and have built them myself But their built and I and anyone who has seen it are very impressed. I completed it When the girls were 6 weeks and had just about out grown their brooder
I also after a lot of internet research made my own gravity fed water system and feeder.
I have even got my 32 year old daughter on board and I am now raising 12 chicks so she can have her own flock! 2 from this batch are additions to my flock. Our second batch of chicks are straight runs for Cochin, Bharma’s, Breda’s And Wynette’s. I chooose these breeds for their dispositions and colourings. I love ornamental fancy chickens and even more I love their individual personalities.
I’m in town so no Roo’s for me!
I really look forward to learning and meeting others who love their feathery flicks.
Thank you!
