Hi everybody! I am getting three Easter Egger chicks on the 27 of this month and I am so excited to start my journey with my little backyard flock! I have some farming/chicken and chick care experience and I have raised day old ducklings dozens of times, but I have never raised chicks of my own in my backyard. I am very excited to add my little girls to my family! Naturally I wanted to do as much research as possible before making the decision to get chicks, and I found myself on this site a lot finding the answers to every question I needed to know so I decided it would be a good idea to make my own account and keep expanding my knowledge so I can do my very best raising my three little chickies!

Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock, so glad you joined us

Once your chicks are 6-8 weeks old, you can post photos of them at "what breed or gender is this."

Thank you! I am ordering Ameraucana pullets (but I am well aware that most feed stores just give you EE's since most people don't know the difference), there's a 90% chance of them being female but it's not guaranteed, but I really hope they all are since I can't have a roo in my neighborhood! I guess I will find out if one starts crowing!

Welcome!

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
