I am a new backyard chicken mom. Having watched my friend with her hens last year I went ahead and decided to have a flock of my own. I found the site very helpful with the myriad of questions I have

I currently have 7 pullets (6 are mine) so these gals are not laying yet but should be in September. Four are 4 months old, Khaleesi is my Ameracuana, Kara a Golden Sexlink, Arya is a Marons (cuckoo I think) and Lilu is a Blue Wyandotte (I think). The last 2 is a toss up, I guess I'll know when they lay their eggs The remaining 3 are 3 months old, Sansa is a Black Australorp, Michonne is a Speckled Sussex and Tafeti is a Golden Wyandotte that I'm caring for my friend until she is a bit bigger to join the rest of her flock.

My coop is a old metal shed that I converted. It was in so so condition with just boxes that were sitting in there for years. It took a few months to convert it working on it myself during the weekends. During this time my friend kept my chicks at her place raising it with hers. I built an extended run to the coop and was finally able to welcome the girls Memorial Day wknd. I'm also in the process of building another extension to the run. As you may have guessed from some of the chicken names My coop is called "Hens Landing" and my chickens are from "House Egg Layers"

I have a regular 9-5 that I've been at for 20yrs. I have 2 dogs a lab/boxer mix Kuma and a wheaten terrier Angel whom are both 10yrs old.

Life now has all been about the chickens since I've gotten them. I like to let them free range in a fenced off area so I try to get home early to let them out. I end up being out with them since I have several hawks that like to hang around. I have a huge backyard beyond the fenced area and would luv to let the roam around but not with those hawks around.

Besides the chickens I love landscape photography which I need to get back into. I use a canon DSLR. I'm a Reiki master and I'm also into essential oils with doTERRA.

I think that's it! Happy to be here and look forward to meeting new people and learning from you all!
