(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, this year is my first year as of June 23. I got my first 2 chickies.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have as of now 5 chickens. (I adopted the Triplets in September.)
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have: 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Ameraucana, and 3 Rhode Island Reds.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google / looking for answers and finding them on here. This became my #1 resource on taking care of my girls.
(5) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have two dogs who love to watch the chickens be simply chickens. I really do love it.
The absolute best reason I can say why I joined was because you guys give out AWESOME ADVICE! BETTER THAN A DOCTOR! And the reason why I feel this way is because one of my baby Rhode Island Red hurt her leg. I have videos showing her getting up, and still being able to walk little by little. She hasn't stop eating and I don't believe is Marek's disease because she's still eating and drinking regularly. Her poop is still solid and looks normal. The newest thing that I can remember seeing her do is stand onto the roost we put into the coop for the older gals to sleep on which is pretty high from the ground. I do recall seeing her fall/jump down from the roost, so I'm thinking she might have sprained her leg pretty bad. At this very moment I'm very confident in saying it's a sprained leg, but I do want to reach out to a vet just to confirm what I'm thinking.
