Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

They are so fun! They are also like little kids when it comes to treats. It is easy to give them too much.

I give my hens kale each morning--about the amount they can eat in 10 minutes. The rest of the time they get good chicken layer as their primary food

Yes they are! We only feed them small amounts everyday! Usually only in the morning as well sometimes at night instead! They are definitely like out children lol! My mom always had chickens and I just fell in love! Or flick is the tamest bunch of goofballs! Our rooster Rocco is partially blind and loves nothing more than to sit in the dirt and play cars with our son. Definitely not what I expected from a rooster but he's a sweetie!

Roosters can be great!

G’Day from down under Amanda :frow Welcome!

Rocco sounds like a bit of a character ;)

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you include your general location on your profile, this will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out :D
