Hi Everyone

Thank you so much! Yes I love where I live!
I'm a transplant from the North Wales Coast in the UK (been here 20 years) and I love the seasons here.
The chickens appear to be really happy thankfully as I'm still learning!! My two youngest ladies are still laying despite wind storms and freezing temps!!
I am a bit jealous we were going to move to Canada years ago but had to be close to dad and brother to look after them .But we nearly did after dad passed away we found a nice big house in Stratton, bude move because I want to bring kids up in a nicer inviroment.bude is 15 years behind southampton.
Hi north wales has got some good views but yours are better I will think. We have just moved to bude from southampton. Sold farm and land bought a house with no neighbors but close enough for the kids to walk to school. I have started with eggs I bought off eBay polish. But have ended up with 3 cockbirds and 2 hens . I bought 4 turkey eggs and have hatched 2 . I am also new to this site .trying to get information about my Ill baby turkey . There’s a lot of awnsers to a lot off my questions I have found .

:frow Hi Andy, I'm so sorry you didn't make the move to Canada, but where you are is beautiful. We are a couple of days drive to the Canadian border! No matter where we live it's hard to find somewhere safe and quiet these days, so you did good. Yes, I did too!! It's a 15 drive to town, but at this time of the year with the snow and ice that time can easily be doubled. I moved here a year after my mum passed. No regrets!
The folk on BYC are SO nice and I think we've both hit the jackpot being here with great folk to help us! :)
I guess eBay isn't a reliable place if you're just looking for pullets huh? I never thought of getting eggs from there. Lol
There are some beautiful turkeys out there. Didn't know there was so many varieties till I got into fowl!!
I'm sure you'll find all your answers here Andy. I hope your little turkey gets better hun. I'm not into the hatching thing.... Yet!
Lovely to meet another Brit.

Wow! Gorgeous scene, gorgeous birds- I'm sweating right now so I like the photo A/C- So majestic and raw! Great intro and adventure story. Well, aloha and welcome to BYC! A great resource for all things chicken for sure. Lots of wise ol' birds here that tickle and amaze with their smarts and a little fun on the side sometimes. I personally am very grateful and appreciative for this site. Enjoy, and I'll see ya around!!

Thank you very much. Yes, I'm very blessed where I live!
I'll share my natural AC with you anytime!! Right now, before sunrise it's right at 17°... You're welcome!;)
Aloha + heat= Hawaii??
We're also a small private beagle and basset rescue, as well as a horse rescue and now a chicken rescue! Almost all my chickens came to me that way!!
Thank you so much for the links I'll definitely be reading those so I can help my Rodger!! He needs all the help he can get.... Me too! :lau
Definitely be seeing you around and thanks again for the links. :ya

It's always fun to see other member's flocks!

Hi Wendy and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us :ya

you have a beautiful flock and I loved your intro

Thank you! I'm pretty proud of my flock. I've wanted a rooster forever. I mean, what's a farm without a rooster welcoming in the day? It snowballed from Rodger.... But by the sounds of things and the chicken math, I'm destined to see more hens in my coop before next year is out!! Lol
Unfortunately, where our farm is situated, we have tons of predators in the air and on the land!! The great horned owls in our barn are just waiting.... Thankfully the chooks have a 10'x16' arch covered run and a 10'x10'x6' dog kennel converted to almost a chalet status so they have plenty of floor and roost space. The run looks like a covered wagon right now with tarps protecting them from the wind and snow!
