My name is Scott I currently live in Rockford, IL and I'm very excited to start keeping ducks.
(1) Are you new to ducks / when did you first get ducks?
I helped my father keep chickens at the home I grew up in and now that I have a place of my own I thought it would be fun to keep a couple pet ducks. I've never had ducks and they will be showing up in a couple weeks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
They will both be Male Cayugas
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I loved raising chickens because they all seemed to have different personalities. I hear that ducks are the same way and I'd love to have that aspect back in my life. I'm an animal lover and my house has always been a "Zoo".
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Some of my other hobbies include fishing and working on cars and motorcycles. I love the outdoors and I love getting my hands dirty whether that be from motor oil, or fish, or just plain dirt.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I currently live with my girlfriend of 3 years and our dog and three cats. I work as an engineer programming CNC machines.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC after doing searches for tips on duck keeping. While the website is called backyard chickens there is also a lot of great info on keeping ducks.
